For the modeler – this is a fun kit to build with plenty of detail. The review points out an accurate finishing motif, construction sequence and needed preparation steps for a great looking model. The best part is that this kit can be shelf ready in a short time.
1501 This kit contains 66 pieces three trees molded in white, one tree in chrome, one tree of clear parts, soft black tires and a 30 piece decal sheet with instructions.
1506 This photo shows that areas that needed to be sanded indicated by black marker. This would be the top of the spoiler and where the tail lights will go.
1509 The top of the fenders and these areas should also be sanded.
1511 The body was primed with Krylon® gray primer.
1514 The body was painted in DupliColor® brilliant red.
1654 As shown here is the placement for decal #8. The front of the engine should be painted black to match the original engine color scheme.
1666 This is how the complete engine should look. The rocker cover and the inter-coolers should also be painted black. This is an accurate representation of the actual engine. Also decals #19 and #20 go on the inter-cooler.
1670 In this photo of the exhaust pipe it needs to be taped in place until the glue sets.
1671 The small pipe shown here will be tight fit between the engine and the front suspension.
1680 The rear suspension maybe tricky to install because the hog head can or will butt up against the muffler.
1687 Shown here is the dash and this is what the real dash looks like. Decals #1-#6 are the gauge decals used on this dash.
1688 This is an accurate representation of the interior of the Mustang™. The seats were painted with Krylon® gray primer. The lighter color is brushed on using Testors® flat interior gray. The red stripe was applied using a toothpick. After the red stripe was added a toothpick was used to do any touch up where needed. For touch up on the seats Testors® 1163 flat gray was used. Also, tweezers were used for the parking brake installation.
1689 The completed interior shown here is an accurate representation of the real car.
1695 The rims slots and lug nut areas are painted flat black. The excess was removed with a toothpick.
1707 Here is the completed engine compartment.
1714 In this photo shown here is the headlight area. The parking lights were painted with Testors® turn signal amber. The black on the moldings were done with a Sharpie® black marker and semi-gloss black paint. The clear parts were installed with Testors® window maker and clear parts glue™.
1721 In the photo shown here of the rear of the car the tail lights were painted with Testors® stop light red. The turn signals were painted with Testors® turn signal amber. The back up lights were painted with Testors® white and the black stripe should be added to give it an authentic look and a Sharpie® black marker was used for the line.
