The Chevy van has been a popular staple for vacationers, customizers, soccer moms and contractors since the ’60s. Its popularity continues to this day despite numerous design changes made along the way.

This model was a lot of fun to build, especially since it’s a rather simplified kit. The customizer would have a field day with it, but the modeler interested in building a simple everyday work van will have to remove the molded-in custom fender-well flares. Despite the few niggling issues I encountered, overall fit and finish were quite good. This tooling is aged, but there were few instances of flash, kudos to Revell’s QC team. Therefore, I would have to give this kit a rating of 8 stars out of 10. It’s nice to see vans being re-issued…I’m a big fan of them. I hope to see more vans model come out, whether re-issued or newly tooled.

For the modeler: Although the kit is a dream to assemble there are a few things that the builder should be aware of. Instruction errors; customizing suggestions; inner wheel modifications; kit bashing for stock configurations; seat mounting suggestions; scratch building a radio antennae; finishing techniques for the taillights, are all fully explained in the Step-by-Step review.
