50 Years of Modeling!
Nearly everyone loves models. For most of us they represent things we could never have or evoke memories of things that we have had. The most interesting thing is that from our earliest years we are taught to recognize that models are only representations of the “real†thing. But for some of us, models “ARE” the real thing. We labor over them with the patience of Job and spend the better part of our weekends finishing up the perfect model.
For some reason the allure of finishing a model has never diminished. Making models is great hobby. Both young and old can enjoy them. They make great teaching tools for children as well as therapy for our hectic modern adult world.
I started my quest when I was about six years old and was given a jet fighter plane kit molded in blue polystyrene. I can’t tell you how proud I was when I completed that model. I realized later that the reason for all those fingerprints (which covered nearly the whole exposed exterior) was from my judicious use of model cement. That plane was rock solid! But the thrill of following the printed instructions and completing the kit with only a few left over pieces, which must have been optional equipment, was a major accomplishment.
At Right On! Replicas we would love to hear about your love affair with model making and replicas in general.
