Sweet Sweet Connie is back and she’s sporting more curves than the Coastal Highway. Back in ’68 she was campaigning for a different cause as the Love Bug chasing the boys in the bands and chanting  “Make Love Not War”. But, “The times they are a changin’”, wailed Uncle Bob and now she’s on a different mission. And this one is personal! Don’t be fooled by appearances, she’s heavily tinted and some of those voluptuous curves are add-ons. A few years back Connie got some bad news from her doctor. She had developed breast cancer. Putting on her best game face she rolled into the body shop determined to beat the scourge that had beset her. Connie’s a cancer survivor and she’s cruising the roads in style again but now she’s trying to make everyone aware of what they can do to help prevent and put an end to this devastating killer.

Be Aware: One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That’s what makes it personal. If you’ve been around a while you probably already know someone close that’s had to deal with breast cancer. When you’re young and invincible it’s hard to think about such life-altering issues.  You need to know that the best weapon against breast cancer is early detection. In fact, when detected early enough the five year survival rate for breast cancer victims is 98%. The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a great source of information to learn about the Early Detection Plan (EDP). I just might save your life or someone you love.

Seriously Folks:  You can help! One of the easiest things you can do is help make others aware of Breast CancerCA VW 000b issues and promote early detection with your friends and family. Don’t wait until you hear the news and have to think, “I should have done something a long time ago.” To get all the facts from a reputable source visit the  National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) website online. At their website you can  donate to the organization to help provide mammograms for deserving women and research efforts. They also provide excellent guidance and programs to help set up your own early detection plan (EDP). You can even get involved as a volunteer in a number of ways.
