As the old expression goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” I found a broken ToymaxTM Street Rod Wireless Radio Remote Control Car for sale on the internet for around $12. Of course there was no remote controller for the toy and the wiring was damaged anyway – but I just wanted it for the body so it didn’t matter. This toy was manufactured in 1999 as a 1970 Olds 442 W-30 a slammer model (nothing opens and you can’t see into the interior) as a top-up convertible. That made it the perfect candidate for an Indy Pace Car conversion!

The body has pretty good detail for a toy product and with the help of some Fred CadyTM decals I was able to save about $150 off the price of a Danbury MintTM collectible of this scale model and still have a nice display for my collection. If you want to see how to turn your trash into treasure go to the Step-by-Step Project Guide.
