Porsche 911 Turbo 1:24 Scale Revell Model Kit #85-4330 Review
Review and Photos by Alan Mann
The Porsche 911, (pronounced Nine Eleven), is the flagship of Porsche and has had one of the longest continuous production runs of any modern vehicle. It originally was designated as the “Porsche 901” (901 being its internal project number). 82 cars were built as 901s. However, Peugeot protested on the grounds that in France it had exclusive rights to car names formed by three numbers with a zero in the middle. So, instead of selling the new model with another name in France, Porsche changed the name to 911. Many variants have come from Porsche designers and passed off assembly lines including the 911 Turbo. This vehicle, which boasted unique features like a ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler and a 330 hp flat-six engine, was originally introduced in 1975 and upgraded with improved engine power and performance.

For the Modeler: This review covers the Revell Kit 85-4330, 1/24 scale Porsche 911 Turbo. This is Skill Level 2 for the moderate builder. Skill Level 2 is the introductory level for Glue and Paint kits by Revell. The kit is a direct Re-release (Re-Pop) and can be found in different box art designs under the Monogram branding. The kit consists of 87 parts molded in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red with Vinyl tires. The majority of the motor is Chrome and otherwise just the rims are Chrome. The chassis is simplified. The interior is a multiple part tub and detailed nicely with decals. The body is also multiple parts but can be assembled and painted as a unit prior to completion. Decals are basic with just badges and interior details, there are no custom items. Overall dimensions are: Length: 6-15/16″, Width: 2-15/16″, Height: 2-1/8″.
