As part of the classic Monogram line of 1/48 scale American World War II bomber kits, Revell’s latest re-release of the Martin B-26 Marauder™ once again comes packaged in a box (Figure 1) carrying the red, white, and blue Monogram label. This release of the B-26 Marauder™ is essentially unchanged from the original 1978 version. New box art, instructions, decals, and a “Fully Licensed by Lockheed Martin” label are the only differences between the new kit and one from 32 years ago. I doubt that anyone will release a 1/48 scale B-26 tooled to today’s standards, with recessed panel lines and the like, any time soon. If you are expecting to bring this kit up to those standards, be prepared for some extra work. However, if you are looking for an impressive-sized model of the Marauder and can accept a few shortfalls, this kit is a good starting point.

For the Modeler: Molded in 84 light gray plastic parts, along with 12 clear pieces, were used in the construction of my version of the Marauder. The sprues also contain three crew members, an alternate tail gunner position, and a crew boarding ladder/tail stand.

For Covered in this Review: Decal errors, tail-sitting problems, interior and exterior finishing, altered construction sequence, canopy masking techniques, adhesive selections, masking processes, version reference verification, salt weathering methods, invasion stripe specifications, decal and repair methods, creating weighted tires, gear door issues, and antenna wire implementation are all fully explored in this extensive 16 page – full color Step-by-Step review.
