Review and Photos for Right On Replicas, LLC by Alan Mann
The F-Series series of light-duty and medium-duty trucks (Class 2-7) have been marketed and manufactured by Ford Motor Company since 1948. While most variants of the F-Series trucks are full-size pickup trucks, the F-Series also includes chassis cab trucks and commercial vehicles. The most popular version of the F-Series is the Ford F-150, produced in thirteen different generations. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981 and the best-selling pickup since 1977. The fifth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from 1967 to 1972. Built on the same platform as the fourth generation F-series trucks, the fifth generation had sharper styling lines, a larger cab and greenhouse, and expanded engine options. Three trim levels were available during the production of the fifth generation F-series, though the names were changed in 1970. The “Base” trim became the “Custom” and the “Custom Cab” became the “Sport Custom” joining “Ranger” as optional levels of equipment and trim. Late in production the Ranger trim level was upgraded with the additional “Ranger XLT” option.

For the Modeler: This review covers the new release of the Moebius 1972 Sport Custom Ford Pickup. It is Kit #1220 in the current catalog. While a new release, this kit shares parts with other kits from the product line as Moebius has released a 1969, 1970 and 1971 Ford pickup all in different configurations. This is designated a Skill Level 3 kit (recommend for age 15 and up) and requires glue and paint for assembly. You will find almost 130 well molded parts in White, Chrome, Clear and Clear Red with Vinyl tires and Waterslide decals. Moebius instruction sheets are highly detailed with color photos and well written instructions and assembly diagrams. The buildup has a complete chassis with a V-8 motor. The interior is all separate and easy to detail. The body cab is one part with a multiple part bed. Assembly is straight forward. Details are crisp and with a little effort and some aftermarket parts you could very easily have a contest winner on your shelf. Overall dimensions are: Length 8â€, Width: 3-1/2â€, Height: 2-1/4â€.
