I wasn’t looking to build a 1/48 jet, but here I am. I did research the kit–looking at reviews of previous releases and other info on the MiG-25.
My review is less critical than some others. Even though this kit is 30+ years old with raised panel lines (the horror!) and at least one article said the wing dimensions were incorrect–I didn’t worry about it. The kit or assembled parts very much look like a MiG 25. I enjoyed building the kit. This re-release of the MiG 25 builds into a very acceptable replica. With TLC and skill, the plane can be built into a show stopper.

After My dismay at seeing the imported model kit prices skyrocket into the stratosphere, it is great to see Revell re-issue reasonably priced models like the 1/48 Mig-25. So what if there are a few little accuracy nitpicks! This is the kind of model that kids and novice adult model builders will be able to cut their modeling teeth on, and should also attract potential modelers who have been put off by the outrageous prices for pieces of molded plastic.
Its also encouraging to see the pictures of the finished model in your review, to show the amateurs that if they just put some work into it, they will have a great looking model.
Carl,
Your insights are very true indeed and I also applaud the established companies that are reissuing kits. Most of them were favorites of mine and it helps keep the specualtion on prices in check.
Thanks,
Doug
