For some reason the year 1969 seemed to be one of the pinnacle years for muscle cars. Although a lot of high performance cars from the Big Three had premiered in the years before, ’69 seemed to be when the best looks, performance and attitude came together.  Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile were battling on the oval tracks, drag strips and streets all over the country.

Revell’s® 1969 Mach 1 (Kit 85-4290, fig. 1) is kind of the same in that aspect. I really didn’t appreciate it until I got a close up look and had the chance to build it. Now part of Revell’s® Motor City Muscle Series, this model has been around for a few years. It was a pretty easy build, with the no. 2 skill level being right on the money.  The detail and accuracy is on pace with some of the more expensive kits while maintaining the easy building style.

Overall, this model is a great start for a very well detailed Mach 1, or, build it box stock and it will still get a second look on the display shelf.
